Keynote Speakers: Verity Campbell-Barr Verity is Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Plymouth. She has led international research on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for early childhood practice, analysed the full range of early childhood degrees in England, and examined early years workforce policy and development issues across the UK. The early years workforce is often framed as being in crisis, which undermines efforts to build a sustainable profession while reflecting real recruitment and retention challenges. Drawing on research from across the UK and Ireland, Verity's presentation explores practical solutions to support, develop, and maintain a high-quality, sustainable early years workforce.

A practical, residential event exploring how AI is changing assessment AI is already changing how assessment is designed, delivered, supported and quality assured. Assessment organisations are now asking urgent questions about authenticity, validity, learner support, staff capability, policy, governance and trust.  Using AI in Assessment - From Theory to Practice is being designed to help assessment professionals move beyond general discussion and into practical understanding. Governance training that goes beyond a basic induction. This half-day session will give you a clear overview of school governance, whilst deepening your understanding of what healthy school governance looks like. School governance is an essential layer within our education sector and single school governors and school group trustees make up the largest group of volunteers in the UK (excepting Scotland). This masterclass will equip those taking on the role to contribute from the start, to gain confidence in the work they will be doing, and to deepen their understanding of how governance underpins the success of the institutions they support. There will be content on the varying accountability mechanisms within the sector, such as Ofsted, and guidance on how to work strategically to ensure the long term success of schools. School governance is collegiate and therefore the session will also be highly suitable for school leaders and governance leads. Governance does not happen in isolation and aspiring and experienced leaders, governance clerks, trustees and system leaders will benefit hugely from the content which will explore effective schemes of delegation, the art of productive meetings, pitfalls to avoid and examples of good practice. She is currently the Executive Director of the Suffolk Primary Headteachers’ Association, undertakes external governance review work and works extensively across the governance sector as a writer, mentor, trainer and speaker. She is the author of the book, The School-Ready Governor, is a trustee for a charity, and is a member for a multi-academy trust.

Join us for this one-day virtual masterclass for an indepth look at how to identify pupil needs and put in place and monitor effective interventions. There has been a significant increase in the number of children and young people with complex needs now attending our mainstream schools. This has resulted in a difficulty in SENCOs and teachers being able to identify individual needs and put in place appropriate interventions. Alongside this is the difficulty that schools have to engage Education Psychologists and other professionals to support this identification process. The four broad areas of need as laid out in the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the descriptions used in the school census do not adequately describe some of the needs of these complex learners. During this session, Lorraine will explain some of the difficulties schools are having with this identification process and offer support and advice in. She worked on a number of projects with various agencies including the Department for Education, the National College of Teaching and Leadership & UKTI, not to mention being a chair, keynote speaker & workshop facilitator at numerous national & international events and conferences.
